Meet EducationUSA Chile

Education USA Chile promotes higher education in the United States to Chilean students and professionals.

Chile

Chile, the longest and narrowest country in the world, is flanked on each side by the Andes Mountains and the Pacific Ocean.

Chile’s diverse landscapes stretch from the driest desert in the world to the Patagonia glaciers in the South.

Chile is considered a model in Latin America in terms of political and financial transparency. It has also been one of the fastest-growing economies in the region in the last decade, allowing the country to reduce poverty significantly.

Chile ranks among the top countries in several metrics, such as per capita income, economic freedom, competitiveness, and low levels of corruption.

In Chile, 88% of students complete secondary education, which is higher than the OECD average of 85% and much higher than in other countries in the region.
In 2023, enrollment in higher education reached the highest levels in its history.
The Total Enrollment in Chile in 2023 is 1,341,439 students, considering undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate programs, which implies an increase of 3.0% over the previous year.

Chile ranks among the top countries in several metrics, such as per capita income, economic freedom, competitiveness, and low levels of corruption.

Chile’s diverse landscape offers incredible opportunities for business development and requires an educated workforce:

  • Solar, Wind, and Hydraulic Energy
  • Copper and Lithium Mining
  • Electric Mobility and Green Energy
  • Tourism Industry
  • Beer and Wine Industry
  • Forestry and Agriculture
  • Soil and Water Conservation
  • Fishing Industry and Livestock Farming

The weighted score determines a student’s admission to a specific major and the corresponding institution.

Because of the uncertainty of acceptance, there is no need for a prior connection between the student and the university.

Annais Pino University of Chicago - Class of 2027

“I was interested in studying in the United States in third grade. I saw a publication in the EducationUSA newspaper from a student who had stayed at a university in the United States. I always believed that this was something very far from my reality, and when I saw that a person with the same socio-economic profile could do it and get scholarships, I said to myself, “Well, I can do it.” I talked about it with my family and decided to try it. ”

Graduate Studies

Chile has two financial aid systems for graduate studies in the United States: Becas Chile and the Fulbright Commission.
This scholarship aims to finance master’s and PhD degrees in all areas of knowledge.

Graduates are intended to apply the knowledge acquired upon their return to Chile and contribute to scientific, academic, economic, social, and cultural development.

EducationUSA provides free advice to Chileans and foreign residents interested in graduate studies in the United States. EducationUSA holds monthly lectures that are open to the public. During these presentations, universities showcase their graduate programs, explain the application process, and answer questions from the audience. EducationUSA website has informative content and explanatory brochures helpful in understanding the search and application process.

Second destination

The United States is the second destina- tion chosen by those selected by Becas Chile to study a master’s degree and the third country to study a doctorate, behind Spain and England.

These scholarships aim to finance Masters and PhD degrees in all areas of study. Upon returning, students apply the knowledge they have acquired and contribute to Chile’s scientific, academic, economic, social, and cultural development.
